Exhibition Overview
About the exhibition
Project a Black Planet explores the influence of Pan-Africanism on visual art and culture from the 1920s to the present. Featuring more than 250 works, including paintings, installations, posters, journals and film, the exhibition traces artistic responses to anti-colonial resistance, solidarity and liberation across Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil, North America and Western Europe. Bringing together artists including Chris Ofili, Marlene Dumas and Claudette Johnson, it examines how art has helped imagine new political, cultural and collective futures.
