Frida: The Making of an Icon explores the life, work and enduring legacy of Frida Kahlo, tracing her evolution from artist and political activist to global cultural icon. Featuring more than 30 key works alongside photographs, clothing, jewellery and personal objects, the exhibition examines the many facets of Kahlo’s identity and influence. It also considers the phenomenon of ‘Fridamania’, exploring how her image and story have been embraced, reinterpreted and commercialised around the world.
