Amar Kanwar

Serpentine presents a major solo exhibition by Indian artist and filmmaker Amar Kanwar, whose acclaimed films explore memory, justice, displacement and the lasting impact of the 1947 Partition. Transforming the gallery into an immersive visual and sonic environment, the exhibition brings together existing works with the world premiere of The Charcoal Man (2026), a new seven-screen installation. Blending documentary and poetic storytelling, Kanwar's films offer a powerful reflection on history, conflict and shared human experience.
