Hyundai Translocal Series

Hyundai Translocal Series: Entangled and Woven explores the cultural, social and historical significance of textiles through contemporary art and historic craft. Featuring new commissions by eight artists and collectives from Korea and India alongside textiles from the Whitworth's collection, the exhibition examines themes of labour, migration, memory and care. Bringing together weaving, embroidery, dyeing and hand-spun fibre, it reveals how textile traditions continue to evolve through collaboration, shared knowledge and making, while drawing connections between Manchester's industrial heritage and contemporary craft practices.
