Fade

Fade brings together 17 contemporary artists exploring spirituality, surrealism and alternative understandings of time to imagine new possibilities amid periods of social and political change. Through painting, sculpture, installation and mixed media, the exhibition considers relationships between place, ancestry, memory and the body. The sixth instalment of the Studio Museum in Harlem’s acclaimed “F” series, Fade continues its focus on emerging artists of African descent, presenting works that revisit histories, transform materials and challenge fixed ideas of identity and experience.
