Shu Lea Cheang

Shu Lea Cheang's new four-channel film installation LOVER LOVE explores trans and gender nonconforming lives through a blend of documentary, fiction and speculative imagery. Created with eight intergenerational performers in Tucson, Arizona, the immersive work moves between physical and virtual worlds, inviting viewers to reshape the installation by moving its projection screens. Dedicated to Cheang's late collaborator Aérea Negrot, the exhibition reflects on identity, intimacy, survival and collective imagination in the face of political uncertainty.
