Joan Hernandez Pijuan made this painting, Nuvol Rosa (2), with simple materials: paint, probably oil, and a support, maybe canvas or board. I can imagine Pijuan starting with the pink, building up the color, layer by layer. It’s not thick, but it has some texture, see? Then comes this delicate, elliptical shape, maybe drawn with a crayon or charcoal. It's like he’s mapping out a territory, a mental space. The gesture reminds me of the work of Agnes Martin. What was Pijuan thinking? Maybe he was trying to capture the essence of a cloud, “nuvol” means cloud, right? But it's not just about representation. It's about feeling, about creating a mood. This colour… it’s subtle, but it fills the whole painting with warmth. And it makes me wonder, how do artists from different places influence each other? Pijuan, Martin, and me, we’re all part of this conversation about painting.
