Heimo Zobernig's untitled painting is a real head-scratcher, isn't it? With its grid of colourful squares on a light grey background, it's a bit like a deconstructed Mondrian, made with acrylic. I love how the blocks of colour aren't perfect. They bleed at the edges, the paint's thin in places, almost translucent. It's like he's letting us in on the secret, showing us the process, the mess, the not-quite-rightness of making art. Take the red square near the bottom left - it's not just red, it's got layers, a depth. It feels alive. Zobernig reminds me of Blinky Palermo, another artist who wasn't afraid to be playful with form and colour. But where Palermo's work feels serene, Zobernig's has this underlying tension, this push and pull between order and chaos. It's a reminder that art doesn't have to be perfect to be powerful. In fact, sometimes, it's the imperfections that make it so damn interesting.
