This is Carolina Onnen’s photo album page with photographs of Loentje Furnée, friends, and children, at the beach of Noordwijk. It's one page, but it's also a collection of moments, each one like a little sketch. I like how Onnen uses the photographs as if they were found objects, arranging them on the page as if composing a collage. The photographs are small and the figures are reduced. This evokes something about the feeling of being at the beach - where everything feels vast, and humans are just tiny dots against the sand and sea. What’s really cool is how Onnen brings all these fragments together. It's like she's saying that art isn’t about perfecting one single image, it’s about the process of gathering, arranging, and seeing what happens when different elements come together. Looking at this, I’m reminded of Kurt Schwitters, who also used collage to create new meanings from discarded materials. It’s all part of this ongoing conversation about what art can be, and how we can find beauty in the unexpected.
