This sculpture, Stilthouse, was made by Arne Quinze in Mumbai using painted metal. It’s such a trip to see this splash of organized chaos right in the middle of the city. The colours are so vibrant. It makes me think about how Quinze took this whole art-making process head-on, embracing a kind of controlled explosion. There's a really nice balance between the angular, almost aggressive lines and the playful colour palette. You see those long, horizontal beams bursting out like technicolor fireworks? The way they intersect with those bulbous, organic forms is a beautiful mess. The piece has this incredible tension, a kind of controlled riot. It brings to mind some of Frank Stella’s later sculptural work, these artists have such a shared fascination with the messy intersection of form and colour. Stilthouse is just buzzing with this amazing energy and reminds us of art’s endless conversation across time.
