Ei-Q made this gelatin silver print, 'Women at Seashore', with light and paper, conjuring women and sun and sea. It's so striking, the way the figures emerge from the stark contrast of light and shadow, a dance of forms created through a dark room magic. I think that Ei-Q, working in his darkroom, was trying to capture the fleeting essence of a moment, maybe a memory of women in motion by the sea. A burst of sunlight, and the rhythmic patterns of water. Look at the texture, the way the figures are almost ghostlike against the patterned backdrop. It reminds me of Man Ray’s Rayographs. But here, there's something more dreamlike and less about pure form. There's a kind of raw, experimental feel to the piece, a willingness to embrace chance and spontaneity. This really speaks to me. It’s like he's not just documenting a scene, but creating a feeling, an atmosphere. I think he’s encouraging us to let go of fixed meanings, to embrace the uncertainty and ambiguity that makes art so alive.
