This regular pattern of flower motif in orange on a bright green background was crafted by Monogrammist MS. Just imagine the artist, perhaps in a room filled with light, repeating this floral motif again and again with infinite patience. The orange flowers create a mesmerising, hypnotic rhythm against the vivid green. I wonder if the artist was thinking about the cyclical nature of life when they were making this? About growth and decay, the blooming and withering of flowers? You know, in painting, the physical act of applying color can be deeply moving. And even in a work as controlled as this, there’s a sense of the artist's hand at play, carefully crafting each delicate flower. It reminds us that even within the confines of pattern, the artist finds a space for expression and creativity. And it reminds us that artists are always in conversation with one another. We all borrow, steal, and reference the ideas of others. And in doing so, we keep the spirit of art alive.
