Miejsce trąb by Lech Jankowski, is a drawing made with what looks like graphite on paper. There’s something so immediate and honest about drawings, isn’t there? I feel like Jankowski is really thinking through the image as he makes it. Looking at the piece, I see layers and layers of marks, built up into something that feels both solid and ephemeral, like a memory fading in and out. The texture is created by a million tiny strokes, especially in the cloud area above what looks like a boat. There's a real sense of atmosphere, created by the varying pressure of the pencil. The darker areas are so intense, almost vibrating, while the lighter areas seem to dissolve into the paper. It's like the drawing is breathing. Jankowski's work reminds me a little of Odilon Redon, who also used charcoal and graphite to create these dreamlike, symbolic images. But Jankowski has his own unique voice, a kind of raw intensity that really gets under your skin. It's a reminder that art isn't about perfection, but about exploring and discovering.
