Iwo Zaniewski created this work, Holidays at Auntie’s, using an unknown medium to construct an intimate scene. The composition divides the space into two realms: the verdant, cool exterior seen through the window and the warm, enclosed interior. The exterior scene shows someone on a riverbank, looking out at a natural surrounding, while the interior is set off by the vibrant red walls and the emerald green table. A figure stands by the window, looking away, and another sits at the table absorbed in a book. The figures appear isolated. Zaniewski employs color to create a sense of division and to explore themes of introspection and connection. The contrast between the constructed interior and natural exterior spaces prompts us to consider our relationship with the world and each other.
