This delicate wine glass sits in the Minneapolis Institute of Art, its maker remains anonymous. The glass has a fragile, almost ethereal quality, doesn't it? I imagine it was made by someone who really knew their material, coaxing it into this elegant shape. The glass is so thin, so light, it almost disappears. Look at the way light catches the curves, creating a soft, warm glow. The texture is smooth, except for that little burst of detail around the stem, like a tiny bouquet. It reminds me of Morandi, he also played with subtle variations of tone and form. There's something very meditative about it, and in the end, I think all art is just a conversation with what came before. There are infinite ways of seeing, and I'm really glad you took a moment to see this.
