Eyvind Earle created this landscape called *Blue Mist* without stating exactly when, and just looking at it, I can imagine him layering those colours over and over, trying to capture the feeling of a place that's both real and not quite there. Those misty blues and greens on the left side of the image feel cool, almost like a dream. I can imagine him standing in front of the canvas, squinting, trying to get the light just right. The way he’s built up the texture makes me think of other painters I admire. And then, on the right, this light spills in, warm yellows and browns, like hope. See how that branch reaches out, all spindly? It’s like he's saying, “Even in the darkest places, there’s still light.” It reminds me of a Cy Twombly, but in a totally different mood. Painters, you know, we’re all just talking to each other across time. And it’s never really about getting it “right,” but about chasing that feeling, even when it’s a little bit mysterious.
