Sandor Kubinyi gave us this drawing, Three Profiles, with crayon on paper. Look at how those crayon lines just sort of dance across the page, never quite committing to a solid form. It's like Kubinyi is thinking aloud, the drawing a record of his process, not just an end result. You can almost feel the give and take, the push and pull between the artist and the paper. Notice how the brown crayon defines the shape of the noses, but also creates a kind of shadow that gives the faces depth. It's subtle, but it's there. And the red hair on the left? It’s like a burst of energy. Kubinyi reminds me a bit of Egon Schiele, you know? That same intensity, that same focus on line and form. But there's something gentler here, too. Something a little more forgiving. Art isn't about answers, it's about questions. And Kubinyi asks some really good ones.
