Kuno Gonschior made this untitled piece, probably with acrylic or gouache on canvas. The whole thing is like a whisper, isn’t it? The canvas is raw, the paint thin. It’s all surface, texture, like a memory of color. The muted beige of the canvas is like the ground, and those tiny dots of pale red are like seeds, evenly planted. What kind of brush did he use? Was it a mechanical process or was it a meditative one? I think of Agnes Martin, but without the overt geometry. Or maybe it’s like a Rothko, but instead of a hazy rectangle of color, we get the smallest gestures, little breaths of pigment. Ultimately the piece is a reminder that art isn't about answers, but about possibilities. It's not about what we see, but how we see.
