Vaas van amberkleurig, opaak glas met tincraquelé
Listen to curator's interpretation
Curatorial notes
This amber-colored glass vase with a crackle finish was made by Kristalunie Maastricht. The color is like looking through honey, sweet and warm. It makes me think of the way light can play on surfaces, how it catches in unexpected places and reveals textures you might otherwise miss. The glass has this almost tactile quality, doesn't it? You can practically feel the tiny cracks under your fingertips, each one catching the light a little differently. The shape is simple, but the surface is alive with activity. Look closely, and you'll see how the amber color shifts and changes, becoming more or less transparent depending on the thickness of the glass. It reminds me a bit of some of the glasswork of Dale Chihuly, in the way it plays with light and form. Art is always a conversation. It's about seeing what others have done and then pushing those ideas in new and unexpected directions. There is no fixed meaning here, just possibilities.
