Editor: So, this is Dame Barbara Hepworth’s "Winter Solstice," a piece from the Tate's collection. It’s quite small, but I’m struck by the warm yellow against the cool blue circle. What's your read on the symbolism here? Curator: I see that contrast as the heart of it. The golden frame, perhaps representing the sun's return, cradling that cool blue—a seed of hope in the depths of winter. It’s a very intuitive representation. Do you feel a sense of optimism radiating from it? Editor: Absolutely, there’s something hopeful in that small burst of blue. Almost like a promise. Thanks, that’s helpful. Curator: My pleasure! It's amazing how a simple image can hold such a deep well of feeling, isn't it?
