County Theater 

Dan Graziano’s oil on canvas entitled County Theater, captures a nocturnal street scene. Dominating the view is the vertically stacked neon sign of the theater, a beacon of light in the urban landscape. These glowing letters, in the dark surroundings, recall the medieval use of light in stained glass windows, illuminating sacred stories. The theater sign, here, transcends mere commercial signage. It is a symbol of communal gathering. This symbolic illumination reminds us of the eternal human quest for stories that bind us together. Such modern iconography is never a straightforward progression, however. The theater sign, so similar to the sacred glow of medieval light, is constantly evolving. It ebbs and flows, changing its meaning through time. Ultimately, its cyclical nature has the power to ignite our imagination, inviting us to partake in a story far greater than ourselves.
