The Trinity. Surrounded by Angels 1609 - 1672

This is an engraving, titled ‘The Trinity Surrounded by Angels’, of unknown date, by an anonymous artist. At first glance, the eye is drawn upwards through the composition to two seated figures, both haloed, framed by clouds and throngs of angels. The line work and symmetry between the two figures create a balanced visual experience that evokes a sense of awe and celestial harmony. The engraving depicts a traditional representation of the Holy Trinity, with God the Father on the right and Christ on the left, connected by the dove of the Holy Spirit at the top.
