Rodrigo Franzao made 'Net' from found materials, giving new life to what others might discard. I really respond to how Franzao builds up the surface of the work, creating depth and texture through layers of paper and wire. The central image feels like a hidden world, framed by torn paper and a perfectly imperfect ring, drawing you in. The thin copper wires below add a sense of fragility. The way these materials catch and reflect light is kind of exquisite. The rawness of the edges, the visible marks of construction, feels honest. It’s this feeling of openness that reminds me of the Arte Povera movement, the Italian artists who embraced everyday materials. Like them, Franzao shows us the beauty in the overlooked. 'Net' is not just an object; it’s an invitation to slow down, to look closely, and to find poetry in the unexpected.
