This poster, *Deceased, the,* by Branko Bačanović, really grabs me with its in-your-face boldness, and the collage-like feel, like he’s building up an image, bit by bit, letting the process show. There’s something really unsettling about the faceless figure in the suit, stark white where the face should be, like the guy’s been erased, or is he absent? Then you notice these bright red shapes floating around him, kinda like confetti, but also… not. They make the image pop, that’s for sure, but they are like afterthoughts, like a gesture, a little like the work of someone like Richard Hamilton. I find my eye drawn to the little photograph he is holding, a monochrome scene with a roundabout. The whole piece feels like a bit of a riddle, a collection of fragments, memories maybe? It’s got that raw energy, a kind of punk aesthetic, which is why I like it. It is not just what is there, but how it got there.
