This is one of Helen Pashgian's light-based works, and the thing I notice first is the radiant color. It's like she's painting with light itself. The surface has this hazy, almost dreamlike quality. The way the light interacts with the medium, it’s all about creating this immersive experience. I mean, look at how the light seems to bend and refract, creating layers of depth and dimension. It’s not just about looking at something, it’s about feeling it. The way those geometric shapes appear, almost floating within the haze - it’s like a dance between structure and fluidity, control and chance. Pashgian’s work reminds me a little of James Turrell, in that both artists seem really preoccupied with pushing the limits of perception. But where Turrell's work is big and architectural, Pashgian’s has this intimate, almost meditative quality. In the end, it’s not about figuring it all out, but about embracing the mystery.
