Julio Le Parc made this suspended mobile sculpture with metal squares on a dark background. I love how the squares become active participants in the space, reflecting and refracting light, creating a dynamic interplay of shadows. It’s like Le Parc is staging a dance of light and form. You can imagine the artist figuring out the exact spacing and placement to achieve a specific visual effect. I am drawn to this piece because, like a painter, Le Parc pushes the boundaries of the picture plane. He invites us to reconsider our relationship with the environment. He’s saying: Look again! The world is not just a collection of static objects, but a field of continuous change, constantly evolving and surprising us with new perspectives. In so many ways Le Parc has extended the conversation of painting into the expanded field of sculpture.
