Lara Almarcegui's 'Levantar el suelo de la habitación D4' is an act of material revelation. It’s like archaeology in reverse, as if someone decided to peel back a layer of domesticity to expose what lies beneath. There’s something incredibly raw about the textures on display; the jagged edges of broken concrete, the tangle of wires, and the dusty, earthy tones of the exposed ground. It's not about concealing the process, but exposing the guts of architecture. Notice how the light catches the rough surfaces, creating a kind of brutal, unplanned beauty. In a way, it reminds me of Gordon Matta-Clark's building cuts, a similar impulse to dissect and reveal. Both artists challenge our perceptions, inviting us to reconsider the spaces we inhabit and their hidden realities. Almarcegui embraces the ambiguity of what is found, of what is real.
