Editor: Antoni Malinowski’s *Trigonal* is a striking triptych, and the Tate tells us that the supports measure approximately 182 x 91 cm each. The earthy colours are calming, but there's something unsettling about the geometric shapes. What symbols do you see at play here? Curator: I see a layered visual language, a cultural memory encoded in abstract forms. The geometric shapes in the left panel, for example, echo labyrinths or ancient settlement plans. What psychological impact does that have? Editor: That is interesting. I was sensing something of an inner journey and an outer landscape in the work. Curator: Precisely! The meandering lines in the right panel may suggest pathways or even topographic lines from maps. These may become metaphors for our journeys, physical and psychological. The colours further suggest the earth and a deep connection to it. Editor: This has really opened up the conversation between the personal and the symbolic for me. Thanks! Curator: My pleasure. It’s about unearthing the layers of meaning within the visual.
