Tiberiy Szilvashi made this painting with what looks like oil paint, but I don't know when. I love how the intense blue occupies most of the frame, like looking into deep water. There are so many subtle variations in the blue, from almost black to lighter, brighter hues. This feels like artmaking as a process, as if the artist is layering and building up the surface over time, letting each layer peek through. Looking closer, I see how the paint is applied in different ways. Some parts are thick and textured, while others are more transparent, like glazes. There's even a few splatters of white paint at the top, like little stars in the night sky. It makes me think of Yves Klein, another artist who was obsessed with the color blue, but Szilvashi's approach feels more personal, more intuitive.
