Abraham Delfos created this artwork titled "Jongen met hondje" using an etching technique. The cherubic figures adorning the stone structure evoke classical antiquity, drawing on the visual vocabulary of Greco-Roman art. Note the recurring motif of the Cupid figures, symbols of love and desire, which have been reinterpreted across centuries. We see them in Renaissance paintings as well as Rococo garden sculptures. Here, they remind us of the enduring human fascination with love and beauty. Observe how these motifs transcend their original contexts, adapting to new cultural landscapes while retaining a primal emotional resonance, engaging our collective memory on a subconscious level. The image subtly hints at how symbols can be vessels of profound psychological power, their forms evolving, their essence echoing through time.
