Editor: Here we have George Chinnery’s etching, “Mosque and Cuttra on the Banks of the Buragunza, Dacca.” There’s such a delicate quality to the line work, and I’m immediately drawn to the reflections in the water. What story do you think Chinnery is trying to tell? Curator: For me, it's a whisper of a landscape, more a feeling than a precise record. Imagine Chinnery, far from home, sketching this scene. It's like he’s capturing a fleeting memory. Do you think he's showing the grandeur of the architecture or something more ephemeral? Editor: I see what you mean. It does feel like a memory! Perhaps he’s trying to capture a sense of place more than a perfect image. Curator: Exactly. Maybe it’s less about the buildings themselves and more about the light, the water, the whole atmosphere settling into his artistic soul. Editor: Well, I’ll never see a landscape quite the same way again. Thanks for that!
