This is Heinrich Winter's "Wood Interior with Farmer on Carriage", made with etching in 1866. Winter, born in 1843, was working in a period defined by the rise of industrialization. Here, we see a farmer on a horse-drawn carriage traveling a path through a dense forest. In the background, quaint village houses are nestled together under the shelter of the trees.
