Tony Feher made this work titled ‘Enjoy’ out of plastic baskets, its date is unspecified. The sculpture presents a cube-like structure, composed of uniformly arranged red plastic baskets, stacked to resemble a brick wall. The repetitive pattern evokes a sense of minimalist order. The colour is consistent with shades of red and pink. Light and shadows interplay on its textured surface, adding depth and a sense of volume. Feher’s choice of medium transforms mundane, mass-produced objects into something aesthetically engaging. The inherent disposability of plastic is subverted through careful assembly. The work prompts reflections on consumer culture, as the regular forms of the baskets contrast with the supposed uniqueness and value associated with the art object. The use of simple, repetitive units challenges conventional notions of artistic creation and invites us to reconsider the aesthetic potential found in everyday materials.
