This touching photograph of two children was captured by Fotografie Strauss. It's a monochrome image, but within that constraint there's so much going on, a play of light and shadow. Look at the different textures Strauss has captured. From the smooth, almost porcelain-like faces of the children, to the rough, stacked stones that the boy is sitting on, each element tells a story. The girl's dress, with its smocked details, contrasts beautifully with the boy's sturdy overalls, creating a visual dance between softness and structure. I love how the backdrop is blurred, almost like a dream. It throws the children into sharp relief, so that all that matters is this moment captured. The composition, with the boy seated and the girl standing, creates a dynamic tension. It’s a bit like the family portraits by Alice Neel - not so much in style, but in the way they look at people with such intense curiosity. Art is always a conversation, right? It keeps evolving, with each artist speaking to those who came before and those who will follow.
