Claude Monet made Palazzo Dario 3 with oil on canvas, and what grabs me is the light. Look how he builds the form with short, quick strokes, a jumble of blues, pinks, and yellows, that somehow come together as architecture. It's like he's not painting the building itself, but the way the light hits it, the sensation of being there. I love the water at the bottom, those horizontal strokes of blue and green. You can almost feel the gentle rocking of the canal. Notice that dark horizontal line that is the boat, like a shadow in the water, this anchors the space. It reminds me of Turner, but with a softer touch. Monet is less about the drama and more about the feeling, that fleeting moment. It's a reminder that painting isn't about perfect representation, but about capturing an experience.
