This fascinating sculpture, by Mihai Olos, is made from lots of little pieces of wood all joined together. I wonder if he made all those little pieces himself, or found them? It's got a grid-like structure, but it’s wonky and uneven, like a city built by beavers! I like the way it hangs in space, casting shadows; you can see the artist has really thought about how the light falls on it. I imagine Olos patiently sticking each piece, enjoying the slow build, the repetition, and the way the sculpture grew organically, not quite square, slightly bulging. You know, it reminds me of the work of Sol LeWitt, but with more warmth and character. It’s like he took LeWitt’s geometric ideas and gave them a big, friendly hug. These artists are all in dialogue, constantly looking at and responding to each other's work. The making of it is like a meditation, and each of us is invited to do the same.
