Editor: So, this is a Denarius of C. Postumius, from Rome, made by the moneyer C. Postumius. It's small, but the imagery feels grand. What stories do you think this tiny coin holds? Curator: Oh, the stories it whispers! To me, it sings of movement. That dog, or wolf maybe, is bounding across time itself. What does that signify, that animal in full flight? Editor: Freedom? Escape? Curator: Perhaps. Or maybe it's a message. Currency wasn't just money, it was propaganda. What message was C. Postumius trying to convey? It certainly makes you think, doesn't it? Editor: It really does. I hadn't considered the idea of money as a message before. Curator: It makes you wonder what our coins and bills say about us.
