Editor: This is an untitled photograph of a ring bearer and flower girl by John Deusing, residing at the Harvard Art Museums. It's quite striking in its ethereal, almost ghostly quality. What's your take on it? Curator: It feels like a memory, doesn't it? The negative space adds to the dreamlike quality. Are we seeing innocence captured, or something more complex about the performance of childhood? Perhaps a reflection on societal expectations, even back then? Editor: That's fascinating. The societal expectations weren't something I considered. Curator: It makes me wonder about their futures, projected even then. It's a poignant piece, and you've given me something to consider. Editor: Me too! I'll never look at flower girl photos the same way again.
