This small, anonymous photograph shows a cat licking a milk bottle, and it's like finding a little poem in the street. The blur of the cat’s head is what gets me—that sense of movement and life. You can almost hear the lapping. Everything else is still, kind of frozen in time, but that head is pure action. It's a bit like the Futurist painters who were trying to capture speed and dynamism in their work. There’s a great tension created by that contrast, the stillness of the bottle and the frenzy of the cat. It makes you think about all the hidden moments happening all the time, right under our noses. Think of Helen Levitt, she did something similar, just wandered around New York taking pictures of life happening. This feels like that. A celebration of the everyday, found by chance.
