This is 'Kinetisches Objekt' by Gerhard von Graevenitz, but the date and medium are unknown. What you see is a circular black surface with lots of shiny metal discs attached, kind of randomly. The cool thing here is how simple materials can create such an interesting interplay of light and shadow. The black background makes the silver circles pop, and each little disc catches the light differently. It's almost like a mini solar system. Looking at this, I think about the Bauhaus artists, like László Moholy-Nagy, who were experimenting with movement, light, and new materials. This piece is an object, but it's also an image, constantly shifting depending on where you stand. There’s a kind of implied motion, and it gets you thinking about how even simple forms, repeated and slightly varied, can create real visual complexity. It's not just about what you see, but how you see it.
