This piece, Untitled (Two People Walking), made by Louis George Bouche, it's just got this unassuming quality, right? The colors are so muted, almost like a memory fading, but it feels solid. And look at the way Bouche handles the paint - not too thick, not too thin, just enough to give everything a kind of weight. I'm drawn to the rake in the foreground, it’s such a simple thing, but the way it’s rendered it anchors the whole scene. It's like he’s saying, "Hey, pay attention to the ordinary, there’s beauty here too." You know, it reminds me a little of Fairfield Porter. Both had this way of finding the extraordinary in the everyday. It’s a conversation, isn’t it? This back-and-forth between artists, finding new ways to see the world.
