Curatorial notes

Carlo Carra made 'Ritmi di oggetti' with oil on canvas; a sort of inventory of objects in motion. There's a real sense of artmaking as process here, of working things out on the canvas itself. The way the paint is applied, kind of scrubbed and layered, gives it a tactile quality. The colors, mostly blues and browns, feel earthy and grounded. Look at how the brushstrokes create movement, almost like a dance across the surface. I find myself drawn to the upper right of the canvas, where the brushwork seems looser and more gestural. It reminds me a bit of Picasso, but with a more Italian flavor. Ultimately, what makes this painting so interesting is its ambiguity; it's a collection of fragments, inviting us to piece together our own interpretation. It's less about what it represents and more about how it makes us feel.
