Editor: So, this is Illustration XXXVI, by an anonymous artist, residing at the Harvard Art Museums. The graphic style feels really raw and immediate. What do you see in this piece? Curator: Well, my eye is drawn to the figure's gesture, pointing towards something unseen, almost like he’s saying, "Look! There!" It makes you wonder what he's indicating. Is it salvation, destruction, or perhaps just a new pasture for that rather nonchalant-looking cow? Editor: I never considered that. I was too focused on the primitive style. Thanks; now I'm curious about where he's pointing, too! Curator: Exactly! It's a simple image that prompts profound questions.
