Sepulchring of Saint Cosmas and Saint Damian 1440

This panel depicting The Sepulchring of Saints Cosmas and Damian was painted by Fra Angelico, sometime in the first half of the 15th century. Created in Florence during the Early Renaissance, this small panel originally formed part of a larger altarpiece. Saints Cosmas and Damian, twin brothers, were physicians who, according to legend, were murdered because of their Christian faith.
