Otto Lendecke made this drawing called "Fashion (Mode)" with pen, ink, and watercolour on paper. Look at that fringing! I think it's interesting how a static image can imply movement. I wonder if the artist was thinking about how the fabric would swing when the wearer moves. And that pattern—part chequerboard, part spots—is so bold. Maybe Lendecke was trying to capture a moment of transformation or maybe he was trying to freeze an idea in time. What would it have been like to be him then? I keep thinking about the conversations artists have across time. This makes me think of Sonia Delaunay and the designs of the Wiener Werkstätte. It’s all one big, messy, inspiring conversation, isn’t it? It reminds me that painting isn't about having all the answers; it’s about embracing the questions and seeing where they lead.
