This small photograph captures a woman floating on a raft in a pool. The color is faded and a little janky, like a memory, you know? I imagine this artist was looking for a way to stop time, to freeze this ordinary moment. Think about what it might have been like to frame this shot, to consider the composition: the way her ginger hair picks up the light, the color and checkered pattern of the raft, the angle of the pool. The way the geometry of the built architecture interrupts the organic shapes of the trees. I wonder, does she realize she's making art? Is it possible to consider photography a form of embodied expression, one which embraces ambiguity and uncertainty, allowing for multiple interpretations? I mean, look at the way the light hits the water.
