It’s wonderfully chaotic – a playground of vibrant reds, blues, yellows, and blacks splattered across a white expanse. It feels...joyful, but also a bit frantic. What do you make of it? Curator: Frantic joy, I love that! For me, looking at Francis is like gazing into a vibrant, energetic universe. Each color dances with its neighbors, creates these fantastic internal rhythms. Don’t you think the whiteness plays as important a role as any color? Like a stage, or perhaps the breathing room we need amidst life's intensities? Editor: Absolutely, that negative space feels crucial. Without it, wouldn't it all just become one muddy mess? Curator: Exactly! Francis had this incredible understanding of balance – not just in terms of composition, but also emotional balance. Think of it like holding opposing feelings. Can we contain the frenetic alongside serenity? I think Francis asks this question. It’s like jazz – improvisation within structure. It's very abstract expressionist, you see the raw energy in mark-making but a desire for beauty and, frankly, harmony. It’s a visual poem about life. Editor: So, he is playing with dualities: chaos and serenity, intensity and balance... I see it now. The white space almost feels like a calming breath amidst the storm of colors. Curator: Beautifully put! Maybe the beauty comes in witnessing the holding of all feelings in life – no denying the chaos and beauty of life. It speaks to our inner world doesn’t it? I still find new corners in each view. Editor: Yes, now it’s like those dancing colours contain worlds of feeling and contemplation.
