Salver 19th century

This impressive silver salver, nearly 20 inches in diameter, was crafted in the 19th century by Alexandre Gueyton. The material itself is a dominant force, its reflective surface drawing the eye across intricate details. Notice how the circular form is both emphasized and complicated by the embossed designs. The center medallion is surrounded by concentric rings, a motif echoed in the four surrounding cartouches which break the circle into quadrants, each filled with dense foliage and figures.
