Jean Pelletier created this print titled "Medaillons, hoornen des overvloeds en putti" whose date is not known. The two designs presented have a striking similarity in their structure. Each is defined by a rectangular frame, meticulously detailed, creating a sense of containment. Inside these frames, circular medallions take center stage. The upper medallion features a classical profile portrait, exuding a sense of nobility. Conversely, the lower medallion showcases a lively scene with putti, figures embodying innocence. These figures are framed with garlands and a complex interplay of draped fabric, which enhance a sense of movement within the static print. The repetition of circular forms introduces a rhythm that speaks to broader themes of balance and order characteristic of Pelletier’s era. Despite their decorative function, Pelletier's formal approach invites us to consider the deeper cultural values embedded in 18th-century design.
