Henri de Rothschild made this photo of a barrack with parked ambulance sleds, one of which has a red cross. You can see the snow on the roof of the barrack. The sleds look like they're waiting. Maybe there's a feeling of apprehension. This image feels like it exists on the cusp. As an artist, I wonder what it was like to create this image. What was Rothschild thinking? You know? It is the waiting that is somehow so poignant. The grey in the sky communicates a feeling of silence. It's like looking at a memory. I respond to artworks in metaphorical, emotional, and creative ways. This image is no exception! I feel it is a testament to our shared humanity.
